A Historical Novel By Frank A. Wood

Riposto is a comune (municipality) in the Catania area of southern Italy. The small seafront town is located about 140 miles southeast of Palermo and about 19 miles north of Catania.

The municipality of Giarre-Riposto was created by the fascist regime in 1939, merging the municipalities of Giarre and Riposto which had previously been administratively separate. In 1942, the municipality of Giarre-Riposto had been re-named to Ionia. Following the end of WWII, the two towns were separated once more by legislative decree and both had their names and administrative capabilities restored.

Mullinnix was underway on 18 October to participate in Operation Deep South. On 24 October, the ship anchored in Riposto, Sicily. 26 October found Mullinnix back at work.
